The Northern Blog Awards 2017
I’m so thrilled and so excited that I’m getting to write this post . . . the post that says I am an award winning blogger! How crazy is that?
Last Saturday, Ben and I attended a very dapper event at the Principal Hotel in Manchester. Along with many other bloggers and influencers, we were lucky enough to be included in an incredible night of posh drinks, amazing food and exciting award giving. All in celebration of blogging up North. – The Northern Blog Awards (NBAs) just happened and it was very, very good!!
How did it all come about?
The NBAs 2017 was set up and organised by Holly Wood, a blogger at hollygoeslightly.co.uk and founder of We Blog Mcr. – (Recently rebranded to We Blog North – A Northern blogging network). This was the events very first year and I think I can speak for everyone that attended when I say that I hope the NBAs will now be an annual thing.

The night celebrated Northern bloggers of all types from beauty, fitness and food to parenting, family and crafts. The Awards included 25 blogging categories with nominations and votes reaching 70,000 in the build up to the event. This was a serious event with pretty stiff competition and so it really was an honour and a privilege to be included.
I was nominated for two categories: Best Foodie Blogger and Prolific Pinners (Pinterest). I really was blown away by my nominations and really felt very lucky to be able to stand alongside such talented and inspirational bloggers.
And honestly the calibre of blogs and influencers really was very high and I never in a million years expected to win either of my categories. But . . . . but, but, but – out of 5 very amazing, super professional food blogs: ProperFoodie was given the award for best foodie blogger and I really still can’t quite believe it.
Foodie blogger nominees
My fellow nominees were just as deserving, if not more so. So I feel that it is only fair that I mention them here. First of all my very good friends: Katya Willems and Kat Buckley who were both very gracious and so happy for me on the night. –
Katya blogs at KatyasCakeHole and has also featured a few times on Properfoodie. Katyas passion for food and blogging is so inspirational and her blog is full of amazing reviews, recipes and fun foodie ideas – go check out her site if you haven’t already!
Here she is 🙂

And here as well . . . 🙂
Kat, was previously just an online friend – so thank you to the NBAs for the official in-person intro!! 🙂 Kat blogs at TheBakingExplorer and her blog is filled with delicious bakes, sweet treats and a range of vegan and veggie options. Its definitely a good place to start if you are looking for some baking inspiration 🙂
Also in the foodie blogs category was GreesnOfTheStoneage, a beautiful blog full of delicious paleo and vegan recipes; and ToonLunchClub, which brings together a very informative collection of restaurant reviews from the North East. Definitely worth a little look!!
All so fabulous and so amazing!! It really was a tough category!! So I am still a little speechless and overwhelmed by the whole thing.
Putting the whole ‘winning an award’ to one side for just a sec; the rest of the night was just simply fantastic. Not only did we find ourselves in a stunning venue, with super posh table settings and atmospheric candelabras, but we were also treated to an incredible 3 course dinner.
Beetroot carpaccio and feta salad to start,
followed by slow cooked beef with mashed potato, and
finished off with the biggest choux pastry dessert I have ever seen.
Beautiful! and very satisfying.
The prosecco and wine were also very well received, as was the live band, photo booth, and (much to Bens delight) the 80s arcade gaming.
To top it all off we left the hotel with a goody bag each – both filled to top with the most amazing things. Sponsors of the event, including six and flow, hey little cupcake, and bathroom takeaway, had all been very generous and supportive. My bag had a few little extras due to my big win 🙂 and I was certainly not disappointed. From a shiny new Charles Conrad watch and fluffy personalised Christy towel to foodie treats from Booths and champagne from Randall & Aubin (and so many other things) it will definitely be very tough to top this next year!! – But Holly, I so hope you do 🙂
I must also mention my lovely spoon from One Mama one shed, and
my lovely cosy hat from Brand attic!!
And I must say that my new watch looked rather fab in a cooking shoot I did last week 🙂

An amazing night with an even more amazing crowd of people (which I hope will to continue to grow) – this is definitely the start of great Northern Blogging things to come!!
Thank you so much if you voted for me, it really means the world! ♥ ♥ ♥
